Design-Build Request For Proposal (RFP)
The Design-Build Request For Proposal (RFP) was issued on March 7, 2006, following San José City Council action. The selection process will be qualification based.
Airport Projects
On November 15, 2005, the San José City Council gave approval for program revisions to the Airport’s Master Plan. At this meeting, Council also approved the recommendation to proceed forward using a Design Build Project Delivery Method for the terminal improvement projects.
The Design Build method is one in which a prime contractor is selected to both design and construct the projects. Under consideration for inclusion in the Design Build contract are the following Airport projects:
Terminal A Renovation/Improvements
Demolition of Terminal C Phases 1 and 2
Temporary Processing Center for Terminal
C
Terminal B Phase 1
Roadway & Parking Improvements

Design Build Outreach Meetings
In order to solicit stakeholder input regarding the Design-Build process, Airport and Public Works staff held three outreach meetings on January 11, 12 and February 1, 2006. At these meetings, staff provided information and received input regarding the approved recommendation to use a Design Build method for the various Airport Improvement projects.
